In this article, we will explore the role of PHS in the advancement of solar energy, its technical and economic benefits, and the future prospects of this technology. Pumped storage hydropower (PSH) is experiencing a resurgence in project development across the globe, driven by the increasing need for grid stability and renewable energy integration. In the United States, 67 new proposed PSH projects are currently in various stages of planning across 21 states. The objective of SI 2030 is to develop specific and quantifiable research, development, and deployment pathways to achieve the targets identified.
