Introduction
To address this gap and to increase the share of renewables to 30% of the total energy mix by 2030, the Council of Ministers (CoM) approved on March 23, 2022, a draft law developed by the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC), together with the Ministry of Energy and Water. As public electricity became limited to a few hours per day, private generators, as informal service providers, extended their spread throughout the country, to fill the gap caused by Électricité du Liban (EDL)’s near collapse. As a result of the almost complete breakdown of the state-owned utility Electricité Du Liban (EDL) in recent years, many households and enterprises in Lebanon have resorted to renewable energy (mainly solar power) to generate electricity. The frequency regulation power optimization framework for multiple resources is proposed. Since early 2020, solar panels have sprouted across Lebanon, from urban rooftops to agricultural lands. But here's the kicker – solar potential here exceeds 3,000 hours of sunshine annually. Lebanon's energy crisis boils down to three critical failures: Now, containerized energy storage systems (CESS) are changing the game.
